"Care Enough to Wear PINK?
Red River Best Chevy Dealers, American National Bank & Trust among sponsors for Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
A lot of "Pink" was showing Tuesday at American National Bank during a photo gathering to promote October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. Through the Red River Best Chevy Dealers, Four Stars Auto Ranch and Herb Easley Motors joined with American National Bank to raise money for the Wichita Falls Professional Firefighters Association Local 432. All proceeds gathered by the firefighters association are going to the local Susan G. Komen Foundation and the local American Cancer Society.
Dwight Berry, president of American National Bank & Trust, said the bank purchased 192 pink T-Shirts as part of the "Care Enough to Wear PINK?" marketing campaign of the Midwestern State University Marketing Class. "The bank's Kelly Smith met with the college class and then asked if we wanted to be a part of this campaign. This is a great cause because we all know this is a horrible disease and well worth our time and money."
Smith said she met with the MSU class through her role in Resource Wichita Falls. "Jackie (Hoegger the instructor of the class) mentioned the idea to me saying it was a project of the Wichita Falls Firefighters Association. Everyone at the bank thought it was a great idea. Our bank's trust department manages the retirement funds for the retired Wichita Falls Firefighters, so we definitely thought we should be included in the project. Also, my mother battled breast cancer last year, so this is personal with me."
The MSU Marketing Class got involved in the campaign through the efforts of Robert Forrester, owner of Four Stars Auto Ranch in Henrietta. He said the Red River Best Chevy Dealers has been sponsoring a breast cancer awareness campaign for several years. "Knowing that the firefighters were doing this, we decided it would benefit more people if we worked together. Also, since we sponsor the marketing class at MSU, we thought this would be an excellent marketing project for the class and a way to make more people aware of this campaign."
This is the fifth year that the Wichita Falls Professional Firefighters Association Local 432 has been selling their pink breast cancer awareness T-Shirts. In addition to American National Bank, other businesses that have purchased T-Shirts for their employees include PURE and Lone Star Milk. To participate by purchasing a $15 PINK T-Shirt, visit Fire Station 1 at 1001 Bluff, Fire Station 8 at 2000 Southwest Pkwy., Herb Easley Motors at 1125 Central Frwy., Four Stars Auto Ranch in Henrietta, or call Hoegger Communications at 692-7999.
T-Shirts can be purchased anytime during October. Students from the MSU Marketing Class at the Dillard College of Business will be happy to deliver T-Shirts to your business. They also will take a group photo of all of your employees wearing their PINK T-Shirts and share these photos on the Red River Best Chevy Dealers facebook page and the Hoegger Communications facebook page. Single T-Shirt purchases also are welcome.
