50 Years of Relationship Banking

50 Years of Relationship Banking

Rooted in Community

For half a century, American National Bank & Trust has believed that banking is about people – not just accounts. Since 1976, where we grounded our roots in Wichita Falls, we’ve been honored to serve families, businesses, and the communities we’re privileged to serve with a relationship-first approach built on trust, integrity, and local decision making.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026, we want to thank our loyal customers who have entrusted us with their business and look forward to building stronger relationships with existing and new customers alike.

50 Years in the Making

In 1976, American National Bank & Trust was founded on a simple belief — banking should be personal.

Over the past five decades, we’ve grown alongside families, businesses, and communities we serve. Through economic shifts, technological challenges, and generational growth, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to relationships.

Follow us as we share our story throughout the year!

1976

“The Willing Bank”

American National Bank Opens

In the 1970’s, North Texas wasn’t waiting for opportunity. It was building it.

Wichita Falls was growing – small businesses were expanding, families were planting roots, and industries across the region needed access to capital to keep moving forward. But growth doesn’t happen on its own.

It takes people willing to invest, willing to lend, and willing to take a chance on a neighbor.

On November 29, 1976, American National Bank opened its doors with a simple but powerful mindset: We Will!

At a time when economic uncertainty challenged communities across the country, American National Bank was founded on a commitment to keep decisions close to home and capital working right here in North Texas.

That commitment earned it a reputation as “The Willing Bank.” Not because it said yes to everything – but because it did everything possible to say, “We Will!” We will listen, we will understand, and we will invest in its neighbors.

1993

Wichita Falls Downtown Branch Opens

After opening in 1976, American National Bank expanded its commitment to Wichita Falls by opening its first downtown branch in 1993 – a visible sign that the community had embraced a bank willing to invest locally. What began with a simple mindset of “We will” proved that a locally committed institution could thrive by keeping decisions close to home and capital working in North Texas.

1998

Flower Mound Branch building

Flower Mound Branch Opens

In response to rapid growth in North Texas during the 1990s, American National Bank expanded beyond Wichita Falls with a new branch in Flower Mound, Texas.

Opened on November 2, 1998, the Flower Mound location brought full-service banking – including commercial lending, personal banking, mortgages, and wealth services – to one of the region’s fastest-growing communities.

With a team rooted in local experience and committed to personalized service, the branch helped extend the bank’s reach into the Dallas-Fort Worth market while reinforcing its focus on serving customers where they live and work.

2005

Iowa Park Branch Opens

Following expansion into Flower Mound in 1998, American National Bank & Trust continued to grow its presence across North Texas with the opening of a full-service branch in Iowa Park in 2005.

The Iowa Park location brought the bank’s comprehensive banking services – including business lending, personal accounts, mortgage support, and wealth management – to a close-knit community in Wichita County, further extending its commitment to local financial solutions.
